Bringing the Farm to the Conscious Consumer.
Barefoot Botanicals harvests the power of transparency using QR code technology
"We didn't know what we were doing, but we knew we wanted to do it the right way." - Eric Vander Hyde
Nestled on a small farm in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Eric Vander Hyde and Barefoot Botanicals produce a wide variety of fresh herbs, herb syrups, culinary spices, and more. However, it is not without struggle and a long learning process that Barefoot Botanicals has blossomed into the pure organic plant producer that it is today.
Since starting the farm in 2008, Eric and his wife, Linda, vowed to remain chemical-free and focus on doing things the right way. Eric quickly learned that operating an organic farm is extremely challenging as it results in increased weeds and pests, but he would contend that it has been extremely beneficial for his farm and ecosystem. After years of learning and resilience, Barefoot Botanicals was officially certified organic in 2014.
However, the challenges of operating an organic farm didn’t stop there. Eric was surprised to find out that not only is there extra work on the farm, but also operationally through tracking an abundance of documentation and data. “We didn’t have a streamlined process or systems to collect and manage this documentation,” said Vander Hyde. Relying solely on spreadsheets, Barefoot’s continuous growth brought Eric to the realization that they could no longer rely on these spreadsheets. He knew that he wanted to do the right thing, the right way. This includes knowing where each seed came from, what field it was planted in, what lot number each batch belonged to, and who was responsible for handling it. The data was piling up. If something ever went askew, there would be no way that Eric could locate the source of the issue to right the wrongs.
This is when Eric found TagOne’s all-in-one transparency technologies that enables farmers to manage their processes, while also bringing truth to the consumer. Utilizing TagOne’s QR code technology, TagOne:Engage, customers can easily scan and access information about ingredients and the processes that went into making each batch. “Not everyone can come to the farm, so we bring the farm to them”, says Vander Hyde, about the Engage platform.
Not only does TagOne:Engage help Eric and the Barefoot farm, but it also empowers the consumer. By delivering deep insights into the labor and processes that go into their high quality, organic products, Barefoot can demonstrate their commitment to transparency, which also helps separate themselves from the competition once their bottles hit the shelf.

Candelay Implements Traceability Management System to Support International CBD Operations
"TagOne provides me with complete confidence in our inventory data while saving me half the time of a traditional spreadsheet."
- Ceon Harris, Operations Mgr, Candelay
The heart of the Candelay’s mission focuses on quality and helping people live a better life. Founder and CEO James Brobyn, a combat veteran and purple heart recipient, started the company with the intent to help others, especially veterans, as an alternative to pharmaceuticals. In order to ensure the best quality ingredients were utilized, Candelay scoured the globe to become the first entity to import full spectrum CBD products into the US market. Candelay recognized they needed to ensure that their complex supply chain is managed flawlessly to remain compliant, scale their operation and build trust within the industry.
“One of our main goals is to remove the stigma associated with CBD and Cannabis. One way we accomplish that is transparency and building trust with our customers,” stated James Brobyn, CEO of Candelay Industries.
As a leader in the industry, Candelay wanted to have complete ingredient traceability and searched extensively for a Traceability Management System (TMS) that could handle all of their transactions, inventory and digitally connect their lots with CofA’s (Certificate of Analysis).
“I use TagOne almost daily which captures all the documents, tracks inventory transactions and does the calculations automatically. This provides me with complete confidence in our inventory data. Without TagOne, we’d be using a spreadsheet which would take me twice the time, and my level of confidence in the accuracy would be extremely low,” says Ceon Harris, Operations Manager of Candelay.
“We are an international operation with suppliers and manufacturing partners all over the world. We needed a cloud based system that is easy to access for everyone. The difference between finding a CofA related to a lot in TagOne is it takes 5 seconds. If I had to find the paper doc and locate it in excel, it would be 5 minutes. That time adds up,” says Harris,a former Army Officer and veteran.
With Candelay’s eye on growth, TagOne ensures that new team members can ‘get it right’ from day one, speeding up the training process. And if there is a mistake, he can find it fast and fix it. “In our operation, scalability is critical. Spreadsheets don’t scale. Also, if there is a mistake in a spreadsheet, I have no idea where it is, who did it, or how to fix it. As a leader, that’s a problem,” says Harris.
WIth their eye on sustainability, quality and health, Candelay has made operations a priority with TagOne’s Traceability Management System.

Nothing Sweeter than Pure Honey.
Bee K’onscious brings innovation and values to discerning honey enthusiasts.
When Matt Kollmorgen, COO of Bee K’onscious started exploring the science of honey, he was astounded. He not only discovered the incredible health benefits this amazing food can provide, but he also discovered the dark, hidden secrets in the industry.
“I had no idea that most of what we see on our shelf is highly adulterated with sugar water and other products that aren’t honey. The current process that large honey companies use actually kills the health benefits. I was personally discouraged with the lack of integrity in the industry and how this impacted so many people,” says Kollmorgen.
Matt vowed to make a change and set out to find global beekeepers and processors that were committed to producing healthy honey, and using modern technology like TagOne’s blockchain enabled supply chain platform that can track honey from “beekeeper to jar”.
“Beekeepers are really passionate about their product, and are frustrated that their product was being tampered with. So, we sought out beekeepers that had unique honey flavors that was sourced from healthy flowers. But a key challenge was tracking the honey from the source and conveying the provenance of the product to the consumer. That’s when we found TagOne, which provided us with a blockchain enabled supply chain system,” says Kollmorgen.
TagOne has provided the Bee K’onscious team with a full end to end system, which captures key data points at the hive, tracks lot numbers, stores key testing documents and also provide QR codes on labeling to engage the consumer with their traceability initiative.
“We are excited to support Matt and his team with our traceability expertise and cloud platform. We are so impressed not only with their commitment to the quality of their honey, but also ensuring beekeepers are paid fairly and know that their product will not be tampered with. It’s a great initiative to be part of,” says Joe Witte, VP of Partnerships and Ecosystems, TagOne.
